This 1955 set of 12 10" LPs is a fascinating survey of recorded jazz released on the Victor label from 1917 thru the early 1950s. These 12 LPs were not designed to be sold in high fidelity or record stores. Rather, they were sold, one per week, in certain food chains and dime stores (to encourage repeat store traffic). See my scans of the brochure distributed in the stores. Accordingly, it does not seem that Victor pressed the vinyl using their best materials or processes.
I listened to all 12 of the discs, and most of them only seem to have been played a few times. I found NO scratches. They play near mint for a couple of tracks, with no background noise or pops and clicks--then a bubble or other imperfection in the vinyl is heard. It is a little frustrating, but does not ruin the listening pleasure very much.
In all, I would say that this 65-year old 12-LP set is in remarkable condition for its age. You will enjoy it! --------------------------------------------------------
I offer a combined shipping discount. After the first item, each additional LP is 49 cents. If you are purchasing multiple records, please DO NOT click on "Buy It Now", but rather click on "Add to Cart" to buy each item. Then when you are finished shopping, please check out from your cart. That way, eBay will automatically calculate the combined shipping discount. --------------------------------------------------------
