Morrissey wasn’t happy with this release at the time and I sorta can’t blame him. “This Charming Man” is my favorite Smiths song, plus I’m from New York but it was unnecessary to remix or mess with this song, it was perfect as it was. That said, it sounds really good. The bass is pumping, I’m sure on the dance floor in 1983 you could really shake your ass to this.

The cover has that unsightly rip on it and a little bump on the corner as seen in the pictures. Beyond that it’s in decent shape. The vinyl looked good but for kicks I cleaned it up on a Record Doctor machine and played it. Little crackle in the beginning but when the song comes in it sounds fine it actually sounds great. In this current kinda vinyl revival that’s happening for the last however many years, a lot of terms like “warmth” and shit like that get tossed around but one thing that is true is that 45 RPM sounds better. And in my opinion this song benefits from that speed, it sounds really deep and, well, it just sounds better than the CD. I own plenty of CDs and I have a quality CD player but this record is the best way to hear this remix.

All in all besides the rip on the cover it’s a nice copy. Low starting price because of the cover issues.
