Ella Fitzgerald "Sings Rodgers & Hart Song Book" Verve MGV-4002 2 LP's 34 Hits
This is the winner of Grammy's Lifetime Achievement Award in 1967, Ella Fitzgerald, singing "Ella Fitzgerald Sings The Rodgers & Hart Song Book" on Verve MGV-4002-2 from 1956. These mono records say "Made In South Africa" on the maroon labels. The records look VG+ with moderate surface markings. Some of the songs play VG++ with minor noises - but some of the songs play VG+ with moderate noises. Both records come in special Verve Records inner sleeves (see scan 3). The gatefold jacket says "Printed in the U.S.A." on the back of the jacket. This jacket is VG++ with minor overall wear including minor bend marks in the lower left and right corners. There are no seam splits or writing on the jacket. This album comes in a clear, resealable, poly-vinyl protective sleeve. I'm guessing that the printing plant in the USA that printed the jackets supplied them to the plants in South Africa where the records were pressed. Price guides suggest a valuation of $200 for US pressings of this album - so I'm guessing that would be consistent with this South African pressing. However, because of the defects noted in the above description you can purchase this outstanding collection by the great Ella for a fraction of that price. If Ella was still alive, she would have just celebrated her 104th birthday.
