Bob & the new incarnation of The Wailers had hit their creative stride prior to releasing this album and it shows. I agree with the reviewer who stated that this, of all of the post Peter Tosh & Bunny Wailer version of The Wailers, is the bands, in particular Marley's, most socially conscious LP. It is also Bob's first album to give us glimpses of certain Rastafarian beliefs and this theme would carry on to the masterpieces soon to follow. RASTAMAN VIBRATION is a wonderful display of musicianship, creativity and production. The political, social and spiritual content, delved into, is nicely arranged and tied up neatly together over some of the best musical compositions he and the band ever accomplished, IMHO.

The range of topics displayed by Marley is truly incredible and his ability to go from singing about oneness and peace through physical manifestations of spiritual concepts as evidenced by the title track to the sadness of the all to real hatred causing tragic loss revealed in "Johnny Was" which is Marley at his poetic best. This album truly tackles all the of the emotions of the human experience, from the bigotry of "Crazy Baldheads' to the betrayal of "Who The Cap Fit" to the harsh consequences of not heeding the warnings of Emperor Haile Selassie in the classic "War."

And in all of that, he still has time to include a wonderful tribute to Reggae music with "Roots, Rock, Reggae." This is one of 3 solo albums released by the original founders of The Wailers in the year 1976. Reggae was here to stay thanks to the wonderful albums by Jimmy Cliff, The Wailers and others, the genre had taken firm root around the world as evidenced by this album reaching #8 on the U.S. charts at a time when R&B and Rock were the dominate genres in music.
