FROM 1965 ON THE UK PICCADILLY RECORDS LABEL COMES THIS STUNNING 45 BY FREDDIE LENNON (FATHER OF JOHN) ENTITLED "THAT'S MY LIFE (MY LOVE AND MY HOME) / THE NEXT TIME YOU FEEL IMPORTANT" (7N.35290)
MONO. STOCK COPY.

For auction here is one of the rarest and most infamous pieces in the Beatles 60s jigsaw. The 45 John's dad made to cash in on his son's fame. At the height of Beatlemania up popped John Lennon's long lost father in a blaze of publicity that his son didn't appreciate and from which he swiftly distanced himself.
Freddie Lennon briefly became famous himself, appearing on news programmes and in most national newspapers to talk about John - who he had walked out on when still a toddler. Adding to John''s embarrassment his absent father was even encouraged to make a record to exploit the family name - and here it is. The OTHER Lennon 1960s 45 in which he recounts his days in Liverpool alongside some pretty homespun philosophy. Freddie wrote the words to the A side himself, giving the disc the intriguing and unique writing credits of Lennon/Cartwright.
"Ticket To Ride" it aint - but this notorious record is well known to most Beatle collectors and remains a bizarre and super illusive item to track down. There are various cheap re-issues of this - but THIS is the original 1965 release, hardly ever available to collectors.
The tale of this record gets told in most Beatle biographies while actual original copies of the 45 very, very rarely surface - it unsurprisingly sold in minuscule amounts. Well here is an ORIGINAL 1965  copy. And what a superb copy it is
Nobody could claim this is a 'lost' Beatle record and yet it is very much part of John Lennon's story and therefore the bands. It should certainly earn a place in any serious Beatle collectors vinyl library. Many will have heard about this record - very few will have seen an ORIGINAL 1965 UK copy. Until now.
