This is a live recording from February 13-14 at the Fillmore East in NYC. It was recorded by Grateful Dead sound engineer Owsley (Bear) Stanley and released in 1973, partly as a tribute to the legendary Dead vocalist and keyboard player Ron "Pigpen" McKernan. This show came a very short time before the recording and release of Workingman's Dead, the band's first attempt at eases from their psychedelic history into a more folk/rock mix. Side one is largely acoustic, while side two is Pigpen led blues rock. It's a great performance and as usual, beautifully recorded by Owsley.
