Decca SXL 2029 CAMPOLI - ARGENTA - TCHAIKOVSKY Violin Concerto WBG 2E/1E ED1.

Very hard to find first edition Decca SXL 2029 wide band groove with 2E / 1E stamps. Blue scalloped flip back sleeve.

The sleeve has issues and damage as seen, including slight losses, some delamination, a seam split and creases. Correct inner sleeve present in nice condition.

Visually the labels are excellent and the vinyl is still quite bright and clean. There are fine and superficial scuffs to the surface but none of these (apart from a slight scratch detailed below) appears to be heard on playback. Generally the audio is crisp, bright and punchy with the usual slight pops and crackle heard more in the quieter passages.

Side one is good, clean, bright and punchy overall. Just a slight, quiet repeating click at 3min 35sec that lasts for five to six rotations.

Side two is similar but there’s a little more to note. The only fine scratch that affects playback (picture 13) is heard at 6min 50sec where unfortunately (on my equipment) there are three skips and a pop. Further to this there’s a slight, quiet, repeating tick at the quiet intro start to the disc that lasts around 30 seconds. At 5:13 there’s some extra static pops, 5:52 two slightly louder pops and at 9:00 some slightly more significant pops heard in a quieter passage.

I’ll be listing some other really nice classical vinyl over the coming days, including some turquoise / silver SAX etc - I’ll play test them all - see last two photos for what’s coming.
