Rare Vinyl Album Read the Listing!!
This album bears the title "Rock and Roll Circus" and looks to be an early release of the soundtrack from the Rolling Stones Presents The Rock and Roll Circus TV special by the same name. It is and it isn't. Read the back cover and you won't find many songs from the show. Jethro Tull performed with Tony Iomi on guitar but it isn't here. The Who performed an absolutely killer version of 'A quick one" and it is here. Things were off schedule all night and during one delay Eric Clapton and Mitch Mitchell joined by Keith Richards on bass jammed with John Lennon on the Beatle's song "Yer Blues". There were a lot of big name musicians there to party and not to perform with their bands. The Buffalo Springfield was not there and two songs of their are listed on the jacket along with Led Zeppelin who was not there is shown to perform 'Riverside Blues'. The entire show was to promote the Rolling Stones and they are not on this record!
When I bought this I was a big Stones fan and had read about the TV show that was never broadcast because the Stones went on last when everyone was tired and ready to call it a night. It does feature Brian Jones so that is something but as far as this record goes there is no mention of the Rolling Stones or their having played anything. Many years later the video of the show was released heavily edited and years later it was edited more and released again. Personally I bought a bootleg copy of the TV show and was fine with that until I saw this record at a record show. Needless to say it left me confused. When the Who released the movie "The Kids are Alright" they included the Who's performance from the Circus. It was great and I could understand why the Stones felt they couldn't possibly look good after such a performance and their own lacking a lot of luster.
The vinyl is in mint un-played condition with no scratches or anything to affect the fidelity. As I said I played the record only once before filing it safely away. It has not been out of the paper sleeve in 30 years until I made this listing. So the record is very rare and it is in like new condition.
I held onto it all these years packed away as a conversation piece. It is certainly a collector's item. I saw another label released the R&R Circus as a two record set for an obscene price. September finds me with more bills than the money to pay them so I am offering this one for sale.along with some other choice rarities. Please look them over too. I will ship domestic purchases for free. Please wait for me to send an invoice to the winner
I normally do not take returns but in this case i will though reluctantly. You must pay the shipping and return the record in pristine condition. I have sold hundreds of items on Ebay over the years and haven't had anyone return something because there was a problem with the listing. That is the criteria for a return; there has to be something incorrect in my listing and not because you listened to it and decided you didn't like it. If that is the case you should sell it to someone else.
