This is the version with “northern songs” credits that replaced most of the the “Dick James” credits. Slightly later version than the Dick James yet rarer as fewer of this version are believed to have been made. Dick James credits remain on the last 2 tracks of side 1.

The Vinyl:

Appearance is clean with a nice shine, some light surface marks / hairlines are visible in bright daylight and there is one small, just feelable scratch of 4mm length on “Anna”, side 1 track 3.

It plays excellent with stunning punchy & bright clean audio throughout, there is no background crackle, no distortion and the run ins and gaps between tracks are all quiet.

I’ve included a video where you can get an idea of the sound (played on a Rega Planar 2 but be aware it’s only been recorded in the room on a phone’s microphone). The scratch on “Anna” generates a few quiet soft ticks under the music - they do not intrude or spoil the sound and could easily be missed if you aren’t listening out for them.

The Labels:

Both labels are clean and free of any handwriting, stickers etc. The spindle hole has some wear and there are no ugly spindle traces surrounding the hole. There’s a tiny circular blemish at 6 o’clock on side 1 over the ”IN GT.” of “made in Gt Britain” but it’s black so doesn’t stand out. On side 2 there’s a small bit of print loss on the right under the “2”. Otherwise fine.

The sleeve:

Angus McBean credit underneath and to the right of the last “s” of “songs”. Lovely condition on the front retaining its bright appearance with no splits, no rips / tears around the opening and very minor wear to edges. The spine is fully legible. On the rear the bottom flipback has partially folded back to the left and, to a lesser extent, to the right. There are small hand written marks against 5 of the tracks on the track listing and the initials “M.R.P.” In small letters to the bottom right corner. Please refer to photos.

The inner sleeve:

Original poly lined emitex sleeve with is included, quite creased with a split on one side.

The disc has been vacuum cleaned on my Pro-ject VC-S machine using Pro-ject’s own “wash-it” cleaning fluid which is alcohol free. After cleaning the disc has been stored in a brand new anti-static lined inner sleeve

I will post in a Music max defenda box with stiffeners and with the disc / new inner removed from the sleeve.
