The early Rolling Stones LPs on Decca and the US releases on London were quite a hodge-podge. The cover photo used for this import, titled "Rolling Stones No. 2" is the same one used on the London US release entitled "12 X 5". The song list on this LP is mostly the same as the US "Rolling Stones Now! also released in 1964. Other oddities are found on the original red and silver record label from Decca. Earliest releases show an ear with the words "Long Playing ffrr"(full frequency range recording) flowing into the ear. This is on the recording but was changed soon after. Also, apparently because these were to be sold in the US, and Decca has a US operation, red tape matching the label was placed over the name Decca on both sides. On the back cover, producer Andrew Loog Oldham wrote liner notes in the style and slang of "Clockwork Orange". He included a message saying that if you can't afford the record, "See that blind man, knock him on the head, steal his wallet and low and behold you have the loot". This didn't go over well and was actually discussed in Parliament. You can read it on this cover, but on subsequent covers it was also taped over.
The songs themselves are primarily covers, blues and R&B mostly with three Jagger/Richards originals. "Off the Hook", "What A Shame" and "Grown Up Wrong". Here we are 60 years later and Mick and Kieth are still putting the songs out.
