"The bridge between the Northwest rock revolution and the Northwest funk phenomenon is Woody Carr." - notes to Wheedle's Groove box set.

This is the 4th single in the highly acclaimed Wheedle's Groove set of ten 45s issued in 2011.  The A-side was written by trailblazer Ron Holden, whose Love You So was one of the first northwest R&B hits.  Peace Dance actually quotes the first few lines of the Gettysburg Address, and makes it sound funky!  The flip side was written by ex-Wailers bassist Buck Ormsby, with Ned Neltner; at the time of this 45 in '70, they were about to form Seattle rock band Junior Cadillac. 

The connection to Seattle garage rock is confirmed by this single's original release on Jerry Dennon's Jerden Records, a label that waxed a sizzlin' series of raucous rockers, including the 1st release of The Kingsmen's classic Louie Louie.  Woody sang lead with the all-white band seen above; they were variously billed as The Entertainers or The El Caminos. 

Here's an UNPLAYED MINT repop of Woody Carr's scarce gem.  Even this reissue is rare...only 2000 of the Wheedle's Groove sets were released worldwide.  The single faithfully reproduces the original label, and the recording is superbly remastered to give you the sound of the sixties.  If you stepped out of a time machine 44 years ago and bought the 45 at a corner record shop in the "CD" (Central District, where most Seattle black folks lived in 1970), it wouldn't be this nice!
