Sale! COOKIN' BAG gem 45!

THIS IS ME/THE SONG I SING (Solid Gold 101, reissue of 1971 original): UNPLAYED MINT gem!

"Stokely Carmichael spoke at one of our assemblies at Garfield High." - Lisa Oliphant Brown, lyricist of This Is Me.

...and although she suggests that racism in Seattle was "subtle...it wasn't blatant", the "Stoke" visit inspired Lisa and her future husband Herman Brown to create Cookin' Bag.  This group of a dozen motivated teenage musicians set out to enact the Black Pride agenda, and this single was a tangible result of their determination.

Cookin' Bag went through the usual personnel changes in the '70s, at one time including outstanding drummer/percussionist, Conde "Frenchy" Lamont (shout-out to Frenchy...how you doin', my man?)

Here's an UNPLAYED MINT repop of this gem by a pioneering Seattle funk band.  This is the 5th single in the acclaimed Wheedle's Groove box set of ten singles issued in 2011.  Even this reissue is rare...only 2000 sets were released worldwide.  The single faithfully reproduces the original labels, and the recording is superbly remastered to give you the sound of the '70s.  If you stepped out of a time machine 44 years ago and bought the 45 at a corner record shop in the "CD" (Central District, where most Seattle black folks lived in '71), it wouldn't be this nice!

You don't often see the individual singles from this set offered, but we aim to please...

...don't miss it!
