ONLY 1000! JIMI HENDRIX colored vinyl 45!
HEY JOE/FOXEY LADY (Experience Hendrix #0641 1st pressing colored vinyl with picture sleeve, 2006): UNPLAYED MINT.
This was The Experience's 1st single in the UK; Jimi wanted to put Land Of A Thousand Dances on the flip, but manager Chas Chandler convinced him to put an original on the other side. Chandler, formerly The Animals' bass player, also came up with the idea to spell Hendrix' first name "Jimi".
Hey Joe had been kicked around the top 40 by several artists; Jimi heard Tim Rose's version, and The Leaves had a U.S. hit with it. The Hendrix cover created a sensation in the UK but sold poorly in the States. The U.S. picture sleeve is quite rare, selling in the $500-$1000 range.
This special edition 45 is from the Jimi Hendrix Classic Singles Collection Vol. 2 (2006), and is otherwise unavailable. The 10 colored vinyls from the box set are insanely scarce; only 1000 collectors can ever hope to own this 45. This record is fully authorized by Jimi's family; it's not a fake or repro, and is UNPLAYED MINT. These singles are seldom seen for individual sale; good luck finding anybody else offering them outside the limited edition, numbered box set...
