Dizzy Gillespie, Dizzy Atmosphere, on Specialty 5001. Original deep-groove mono issue looks VG- with loads of light scratches, but plays fabulously! The vinyl quality is good, the record was mastered loud, and the band is kicking it, so you don't hear much out of the scratches at all. The one notable exception is on (the moody, quiet) Day By Day, where there is an audible bed of background noise, though it's still not really bad. Great performances, here, too, featuring Lee Morgan with Dizzy. Front cover slick is nice, with only light wear, back cover also excellent. Seams are not so good, showing plenty of wear and flaking, and a nine-inch split at bottom, as well as a tiny split at top right. Here's a chance to get a good play copy of a legitimately rare and great old jazz LP for a reasonable price.
GRADING
M- A flawless or nearly flawless record that appears to have seen little or no play.
VG+ Full gloss, some light marks. A very, very attractive record that has seen limited play and has been well cared for.
VG More marks and scratches, will have some surface noise, but still a playable record. Scratches may be fairly numerous, but will be light.
VG- Lots of marks and scratches but no gouges or major problems.
G+ and G Heavy wear and marks, plays through okay.
