Hi, and welcome to psych_out! auctions!!!
I've collected 50's, 60's, and early 70's records of almost every genre - Psych, Prog, Psychedelic Funk, Soul, Rhythm 'n' Blues, Pop, Folk, Garage, Acid, Freakbeat, Rock, Jazz e.t.c and everything in between for all my life!!! Obviously, 90% of the LP's I've ever gotten hold of are completely trashed from the hard living ways and the rock 'n' roll, drug and booze fuelled debauchery of all the wild parties of the times, but the golden 10%? Reluctantly, I've decided to offer them to all of you serious record collectors out there!!! I'm currently trying to set up a record label so unfortunately personal sacrifices have to be made when it comes to my collection, resulting in GREAT benefits for all you shrewd bidders and serious connosieurs of TRUE solid gold music history out there!!! Make no mistake, I'll try my best to consistently offer some of the VERY BEST records available on ebay, many which have taken me YEARS to find!!!
I aim to put a weekly batch up (time permitting) every Wednesday, all timed to end 10 days later on Saturday night. I'll only ever offer THE BEST, MOST AMAZING, MOST IMPORTANT, VERY RAREST UK 1ST PRESS ORIGINAL RELEASE RECORDS I've got!!! I won't insult you with later 2nd pressings unless they are of exceptional quality and rarity. I'm sure you love good music as much as me, especially when it's a 1st Press LP, direct from the master tape, as the musicians intended it to be heard (none of this "digitally remastered",weak reissued, remixed rubbish from hired hands with one eye on the mixing desk and the other on the clock! If these session men really knew how genius should sound, surely they would've been geniuses themselves?! There will only ever be one Hendrix, and that's just a tiny example).
I try to be one of the best sellers on ebay and would like to thank all of you potential bidders for your support and taste in music!!! I strictly grade all LP's I list, visually and sonically using the UK RRPG standards as customer satisfaction is highly important to me, and I'll always do my very best not to let you down. Be sure to add me to your favourite sellers list and check my auctions frequently as i'll be listing some gems that you just WON'T want to miss out on!!!
I think that's everything, so let the auction commence!!!
Title : John Mayall's Bluesbreakers featuring Eric Clapton - The Beano LP
Label & year : Original "Unboxed" Decca LK 4804 LP , UK Mono 1966 ULTRA RARE 1st Press with INCREDIBLY RARE flipback version of the sleeve!!!
Matrix's : Side A : ARL-7297-1A , Side B : ARL-7298-1A (EARLIEST EVER!!!)
NOW HERE'S A TRUE MILESTONE OF ROCK!!! A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO OWN A FANTASTIC SOUNDING EXAMPLE OF THIS ULTRA RARE ICONIC BRITISH BLUES CLASSIC!!! Don't miss out on this electric piece of historic genius, bid now!!!
The most important british blues record ever made? Most definitely!!! Released at the height of the rhythm 'n' blues boom, this is the LP that put Clapton on the map, the one that got everyone spraying "Clapton Is God" graffiti all over London. Quite right too, as he revolutionised the electric guitar with his playing on this. So much so, that it even blew the mind of a young Mr Jimi Hendrix when he went out and bought it!!! (and we all know what he went on to achieve)
If you've never heard the original mono mix of this, you haven't heard it at all!!! From the opening of All Your Love, you know you're in for something ultra special. If you're used to the weak stereo version, you'll be blown away by this. Mayall's voice on this original mono mix is awash with an amazing Elvis style reverb that was cut right out of the stereo reissues! It sounds like he's right in the room!! And Clapton's lead is LOUD and it just screams at you!!! If that wasn't enough, wait until you hear the mono Hideaway - I have never heard a more explosive recording in my life - The intrusive organ is turned right down in the mono mix, leaving the incredible combination of Clapton's unique sound duelling with the lethal jazzy rhythm section rumbling along at a blistering pace!!! The sizzling drums sounds just like the touchpaper getting lit, and believe me, it ignites!!! Many people believe that Clapton never played better than this (I tend to agree). And that's just the first two tracks!!!
An astonishing album, one of the most important and groundbreaking of all time that just DEMANDS to be owned, listened to, and played at the loudest possible volume!!!
Tracklist : All Your Love, Hideaway, Little Girl, Another Man, Double Crossing Time, What'd I Say, Key To Love, Parchman Farm, Have You Heard, Ramblin' On My Mind, Steppin' Out, and It Ain't Right.
Musicians : John Mayall - Vocal / Piano / Organ / Harmonica, Eric Clapton - Vocal / Guitar, John McVie - Bass Guitar, Hughie Flint - Drums, John Almond - Baritone Sax, Alan Skidmore - Tenor Sax, Dennis Healy - Trumpet, Engineer - Gus Dudgeon, and Mike Vernon - Producer.
Trivia : "Ramblin' On My Mind" was Clapton's 1st ever recorded vocal performance. Also, John Mayall wrote "Double Crossing Time" about Jack Bruce abandoning his band for Manfred Mann! (the working title was Double Crossing Mann!!!)
Labels :
Classic UK 1st Press red ridged "Unboxed" Decca labels!!! Both sides are GREAT with minimal signs of age, NO writing, NO stickers, and NO tears whatsoever!!! Just has some light spindle marks from general light use over the years!!! BRILLIANT for a 48 year old record!!! Both must grade overall at least as Very Good!!!
Record : Visual -
Spectacular Original 1966 UK 1st Press Vinyl!!! Nice bright, clean and shiny as if it was just pressed!!! Fantastic jet black mirror like surfaces, it looks GREAT with NO really nasty scratches, groovewear, or nasty deep scuffs whatsoever!!! The only blemishes are just some light wispy sleeve traces, a few mild hairlines and age marks, and just a small amount of cosmetic non-sounding and unfeelable scuffs (only visible in direct angled light) mostly caused from where it has sat or been removed from it's cover over the years!!! Of course, none of these ULTRA light blemishes really interfere with play AT ALL thanks to the deeply pressed quality!!! BRILLIANT for a record of this age and rarity!!! Must grade overall at the very least as Good++++!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me)
Record : Audio -
Thankfully, it plays BRILLIANTLY with fantastic mono blast and clarity!!! It really sounds incredible with NO hops, hisses, distortion, sticks, OR skips!!! Only (like pretty much all records) has a hint of low level static in places such as on the run in grooves, and just a mere TOUCH of ULTRA mild and light "bluesman's fag" static in few and far between places such as on some of the quieter sections and between some tracks, but it truly doesn't overshadow the music AT ALL!!! I'd even argue it gives it added soul!!! A hugely enjoyable listen - The music is TRULY loud and clear with that bass, depth, clarity and warmth you can only get from UK 1st Press vinyl!!! An outstanding listen! Absolutely ESSENTIAL!! AWESOME for a record of this age and rarity!!! Must grade overall audiably at least as Very Good++++!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me)
Sleeve :
Original UK 1st press 1966 Mono front laminated true day-of-release IMPOSSIBLY RARE flipback variation "MacNeill" sleeve complete with original inner!!! IMPOSSIBLE to find this sleeve in anything approaching a good condition - most are spent, torn, worn, and stained due to age and the lifestyles of the buyers of this particular LP!!! This one is NOT, and looks FANTASTIC, especially considering the nature of these fragile sleeves!!! NO really bad marks AT ALL, NO splits, NO graffiti, NO writing, and still ULTRA strong and solid after all these years!!! Only has some truly minimal signs of ageing such as just a small amount of ultra light creases and the merest hint of a record imprint, the very slightest ageing to the unlaminated back such as a one or two ultra light blue ink smudges and only the slightest creaming to the white colour (truly minimal - absolutely NO coffee cup rings, grubbiness, writing OR graffiti whatsoever), a touch of denting to the four corner tips which virtually every vintage sleeve has, and POSSIBLY (just to be sure!!!) one or two other minor signs of age here and there, though nothing that really stands out to note at all!!! And that's truly about it!!! A FANTASTIC sleeve, and a TRUE rarity to find one as incredible as this - most have been virtually destroyed or are just about being held together, but not this one!!! It remains ultra strong, solid, unsplit and unspoilt, and even the spine remains ultra strong, solid, unsplit, and 100% readable!!! Must grade overall at the very least as Very Good+!!! (graded STRICTLY to the UK RRPG standards, not trashed or overgraded AT ALL!!! Customer satisfaction is of 100% importance to me)
Summary : A FANTASTIC sounding example of this INCREDIBLY RARE classic original 1966 UK 1st Press LP!!! Hard to find in ANY condition, but SERIOUSLY RARE TO FIND ONE AS SONICALLY AWESOME AS THIS!!! YOU MAY NEVER GET THE CHANCE AGAIN, so don't miss out on this scarce opportunity to own a true piece of 60's/70's music history!!! Bid now!!!

I've realized that most countries have their own unique grading system. I base mine strictly on the UK RRPG grading system (occasionally with a + or a - to indicate the higher and lower ends of the grade, though I only use these if i'm having real trouble deciding!), so please check their chart for further clarity if you are unsure of what my grades mean. As a general rule, a mint record will be 100% perfect, an excellent record will be in fantastic clean condition with the occasional mild mark and minor use from the years, and a very good record will have noticeable, yet light visual markings and obvious signs of age and use, but will still remain clean with relatively light wear and will play fantastically well with plenty of life remaining in it. I very rarely offer records below the very good region unless they are of an EXCEPTIONAL rarity and playing quality...I hope this helps!
