 FIRST PRESS!!!

One of the very first picture discs (if not the very first) released in 1971.  Magical Love by Saturnalia is a folk/psych/prog mixture. Produced by Keith Relf (ex Yardbird- Renaissance). Group members were  Aletta, Adrian Hawkins, Rod Roach (COMUS), Richard Houghton and Tom Compton. This is ULTRA RARE!!!! 

In the last 10 years I have only come across 1 copy of this great Saturnalia album which in my opinion is the pinnacle of musicianship in the early seventies and probably would have been  a superband given the right promotion. This reminds of the Comus stunner for example or also Forest's Full Circle mixed with some Jefferson Airplane. Sensational sound quality, NO skips or jumps. NO clicks,  NO crackle and static can at times only be heard at quieter passages (there are not too many!!) and in the silent grooves between the tracks. This is really a stunning SUPER heavy vinyl with a beautiful deep gloss. This vinyl has not been played much !!!  A definite EX+!!!  There are no hairlines. Don't be mistaken, this is a great quality vinyl, worthy of inclusion into a great prog collection!!! Inspected under an intense lightsource and angled.

The 'holographic lenticular' record labels are in SUPERB condition (see pictures) with NO wear, NO writing, and barely ANY spindle marks AT ALL!!!!  IT IS VERY CLEAR THAT THIS RECORD HASNT BEEN PLAYED MUCH AT ALL!!!!  The vinyl is in BRILLIANT condition!!!!  Most of these 60s/70s LPs had been to a lot of wild parties and are usually found totally worn out, and almost unplayable. This one is NOT and has NO scratches, NO hairlines, NO scufflines, and only a VERY few of the lightest paper scuffs only visible under light!!!!  THE RECORD STILL RETAINS ITS ORIGINAL JUST PRESSED LOOK!!!!  It is also GREAT to find that the record plays as STUNNINGLY as the visual!!!!  The record plays with NO nasty loud pops, NO sticking, NO jumps, though of course (like all early picture discs) it has some minor background sound / crackle in places (exactly as manufactured!)!!! At the time some customers complained about this fact and were presented with a normal black vinyl at no extra cost. I have not ever come across this yet. Bearing this small fact in mind the sound quality is still SUPERB with NO distortion and NO groovewear either!!!! 

Description - Very difficult to grade picture discs but this one does appears to be in excellent condition. I'm not sure that the sound quality is necessarily as good as a traditional black vinyl pressings. I have dapped the needle on a few places & all appears to be great with just a little bit of light background noise in quiet places. I have not listened to every track all the way through,  as personally I would rather drink acid. This was one of the very first, if not THE first picture disc ever made. Another contender to that crown would be Curved Air.
