The Colorblind James Experience
"Why Should I Stand Up?" UK LP
1989 Death Valley Records-Near Mint
Label: – COOK 028 Format: , LP, AlbumColorblind James Experience were an alternative roots/pop/rock band founded in 1980 in . Bandleader and singer/songwriter/guitarist "Colorblind" James Charles Cuminale was originally from but assembled early versions of what would become the Experience in before relocating to San Francisco. After a couple years of mixed results there, the band regrouped and moved again, this time back to Rochester which remained its home base until Cuminale's premature death in 2001. The band enjoyed brief fame in the UK and Europe after BBC DJ John Peel gave the Experience some exposure, and their music has made a deep and lasting impression. Their "Dance Critters" single reached number 10 on the , while their albums Colorblind James Experience and Why Should I Stand Up reached numbers 5 and 13 respectively.
Often humorous ("The music stopped. And then it started again.") and parodic, and just as often laced with a profoundly questioning spirituality; their music blended elements of polka, country, cocktail jazz, blues, rockabilly, Tex-Mex, rock & roll and other genres. The band's sound was to a large extent inspired by the "old, weird America" famously chased by and during their period, but other prominent influences included , , and .
Their line-up changed repeatedly over the years, and their third album was released under the name of Colorblind James and the Death Valley Boys. ~Wikipedia

I grade records conservatively and try to be as comprehensive as possible. Records can look fine, yet sound like crap. For this reason, I listen to every record/song I sell. Any dust you see in my pics is gone when you receive it. I thoroughly clean each LP after I shoot the pics and before I listen to them. I also grade covers and records separately. If you collect for aesthetics, this is important. I care more about the vinyl than the packaging but want you to have no surprises, so I try to explain both with as much detail as possible.
These are used records. That doesn't mean you must tolerate bad vinyl. I can tolerate surface noise only if it's low-level, and doesn't spoil the listening experience. If it's wall to wall, that record is junk and I refuse to pass it along. I want you to be happy with your purchase.
Be advised, though, with me it's more about the music. I can tolerate a crappy cover on a decent LP so long as it's doing its job; protecting the LP as designed--especially if it has some historic or artistic significance (design, etc.). In such cases, I am willing to hold on to a damaged cover even though it has outlived its monetary value. I also use center-hole, plain white covers when an original cover is beyond saving. Buyers of anything in the middle get both.
I rate this vinyl as Near Mint (NM-M-):
Always handled carefully. Few visible flaws. Very glossy. Superb UK import pressing. No skips. Very little surface noise. No groove wear. The labels are clean, vivid and bright, lead-in grooves are clean. Always stored in audiophile inner sleeve.
I rate this cover as Near Mint (NM-M-):
Great color and crisp, unmarked appearance. Sturdy import cover, with sharp edges and comers. Always poly sleeved.
Includes original printed inner sleeve. Ships with poly/paper sleeve, new Mobile Fidelity Master inner sleeve and a new poly outer. Will be packed carefully to ensure safe arrival.
(Now for the business part)
I love music and records. This is my private collection, one I accumulated over the last 40 years. I bought many of them new and have kept them that way. Some were gifts, some are promo copies I got while working in radio or bought used. All have been cleaned and stored properly. Unless otherwise stated, albums that came with printed sleeves or other promotional items still have them.
PLEASE NOTE: To prepare my listings, I copy and paste from numerous sources. I try to proofread and edit closely but do mess up occasional. Although infrequent, any such error is accidental and NOT meant to mislead you in any way. If you encounter one, please bring it to my attention. I promise to do all I can to make it right. I want you to be completely satisfied with your purchase.
If you like what you see, please come back...and thanks for looking.
