Save BIG on Combined Shipping!
Be sure to see my other record, DVD, CD and book auctions on eBay. Adding any of those items to your package will cost only an additional 50 cents per auction to any United States address. (Note that comic books cannot be shipped by Media Mail, so they are not included in this offer. See below for details.) ALSO: I will refund any excess shipping you end up paying if eBay charges you full shipping amounts (instead of 50 cents) for any "Buy It Now" auctions of mine that you win after the first. Only the first auction you win will cost you full shipping, in other words, and every one after that will be only 50 cents each for any Media Mail items. Go nuts!

----- Important Note -----
This is a vinyl record, it is not a CD! (Just wanted to make that clear...)

----- Description of Item -----
Photos above always show the actual item or items that you will get, because I never use "stock photos." (Excuse any reflections or focus issues!)

Very Good used condition -- the outer slipcase box has some cosmetic flaws, but the records themselves look new and never played!

The full title of this big eight-disc box set is A PARADE OF NOSTALGIC HITS: REMEMBERING THE '40s, "Pleasure Programmed" (as the box says) by Reader's Digest. RCA Custom label, released in 1977, catalog number RDA-053A. "Manufactured especially for Reader's Digest by RCA Records, New York, N.Y." Includes 96 songs, by artists including Glenn Miller, Jimmy Dorsey, Tommy Dorsey, Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, The Andrews Sisters, The Ink Spots, Billie Holiday, Guy Lombardo, Carmen Miranda, Vaughn Monroe, Harry James, Dick Haymes, Duke Ellington, Marlene Dietrich, Louis Jordan, Perry Como, Judy Garland, Louis Prima, Hoagy Carmichael, Margaret Whiting, Gordon Jenkins and Sammy Kaye. Great songs, and the back of each individual sleeve has info about each one of them (and the singers).

Note that because these songs are from the '40s, some of them have surface noise "built in" -- the recording itself has some crackling, in other words, even though these records on which they appear are like new and completely quiet between tracks.

Really a terrific collection, would be great at a party!

See more details below.

----- Condition -----
My standard disclaimer about vinyl: As with all vinyl records, there will be at least some pops, clicks and other surface noise, so do not expect flawlessly pristine CD sound quality. I grade on the following scale: Like New, Very Good (some flaws, nothing major), Good (more noticeable flaws, but still acceptable), Fair (looking pretty bad, but not a total disaster) and Poor (really bad with major defects).

SPECIFIC DETAILS:

Overall condition: Very Good Plus -- outer box has flaws, but records are Like New!

Jacket: The outer slipcase box has some soiling around the edges of the glued-on cover art, some marks and some wear at the box corners. Not a disaster -- it's not falling apart or anything, and the cover image itself is still glossy -- but be aware it's not in mint shape. The inner "drawer" is nearly perfect, however, except for some "age browning" on the edge that sticks out of the slipcase box. Inner drawer has all song titles and artists printed on it.

Records: Excellent like-new condition, glossy and clean, many of them look as if they never were taken out of their sleeves! I honestly wonder if maybe this was a gift way back when to someone who never got around to listening to the records.

Labels: Perfect, with no detectable spindle impressions.

Inner sleeves: Heavy card stock lined with plastic. They have info about every song printed on them, and some really interesting historical facts (such as the fact that "Oklahoma!" was the first Broadway musical that ever had a cast album produced that featured the play's actual cast).

You'll love it!

ANOTHER GREAT AUCTION, FROM A SMOKE-FREE, PET-FREE HOME!

----- Shipping -----
Flat $3.99 shipping (in sturdy cardboard record mailer) for Media Mail with Delivery Confirmation to any United States address. (That's a lot less than this will cost me to mail, because this thing is HEAVY!) Add only 50 cents for each additional auction of mine after the first that can be shipped by Media Mail (which includes records, CDs, DVDs, Blu-rays and books, but not comic books).

If you also are interested in any of my comic-book auctions: Although comic books cannot be shipped by Media Mail (because the post office does not consider them "books"), a Priority Mail Flat Rate box that can hold either 80 comics or a combination of comics and other items will cost only a flat $11.30. That means you can mix-and-match Media Mail and non-Media Mail items (such as comic books) and still pay no more than $11.30, so long as everything will fit inside an 11" x 8-1/2" x 5-1/2" box that is big enough to hold 80 comics. If this method ends up being cheaper for you than having your Media Mail winnings shipped separately from your non-Media Mail winnings, I definitely will make sure that you pay the lowest amount possible, whether that means shipping things together or separately!

INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS: eBay adds a substantial premium to the cost of international shipping as part of their Global Shipping service. None of that extra money goes to me. I only get exactly the same shipping amount that a US bidder would pay, and all of the rest goes to eBay. So don't blame me if eBay's shipping prices to other countries are high, because I have absolutely no control over them! ALSO: eBay's Global Shipping Program is the only method that I use to ship to international bidders. So whatever price eBay's shipping calculator lists is how much shipping will cost you, there are no other alternatives.

Good luck! .
