JAZZ SAHARA LP by AHMED ABDUL-MALIK.

ORIGINAL US MONO DEEP GROOVE FIRST PRESSING on RIVERSIDE (RLP 12-287) from 1958. Highly original session fusing JAZZ with elements from the MIDDLE-EASTERN and NORTHERN AFRICAN MUSIC TRADITION. ABDUL-MALIK plays bass as well as oud and leads a small group of musicians playing both traditional and ethnic instruments. The sax player JOHNNY GRIFFIN is featured on three of the four selections on the LP. Listen to the soundclip below for a taste (NOTE: I made the soundclip from the copy being auctioned). RARE LP.
