Originally released in 1967, this is Nina Simone’s debut release for RCA Records. Featuring a stellar backing band that includes, amongst others, Eric Gale and Bernard "Pretty" Purdie, Sings The Blues is an incredible mix of blues, soul, gospel, folk, jazz, and more. With Nina handling piano and vocal duties, the band slow burns through a killer selection of songs (including a track from Porgy & Bess and one whose lyrics are penned by the immortal Langston Hughes). Another fine 180 gram vinyl reissue with a deluxe tip-on jacket from 4 Men With Beards.

Originally released in 1967, SINGS THE BLUES marks the beginning of Nina Simone's tenure on the RCA label. True to its title, the album is steeped in the blues, with Simone's passionate vocals and nuanced piano lines evoking a beautifully bittersweet world of sultry love and inevitable heartache. Backed on many tracks by an ensemble that's intuitive enough to play it loose, Simone settles into a deep groove on songs such as the stirring "Do I Move You?" and the slowburning "In the Dark," while getting lightly funky on "Day and Night." The record's showstopper, however, is a haunting solo rendition of "My Man's Gone Now," one of the most powerful versions of the Gershwin classic ever recorded. A fascinating snapshot of the legendary performer, SINGS THE BLUES is an essential Simone album.

At City Hall Records we understand that you want your LPs to arrive in the same condition they're described.  So, we pack them carefully in a cardboard mailer, insulated with thick cardboard pads on each side, and with reinforcement on the corners. We want to be sure you get your LPs in the same condition in which they leave our warehouse. 

We've shipped hundreds of LPs to eBay buyers and have had no complaints about their condition. Here's how we pack:

After you’ve used the Buy It Now button on each item:

1. Go to My eBay.

2. Click the Won link on the left side of page.

3. Click the Pay For All PayPal Items button on the bottom of the page.

4. Check your shipping address. If any information is incorrect, click the Change shipping address link to update it.

5. Confirm the order details, including shipping and taxes. Click the Continue button.

6. Click the Request total from seller link to request total.

Wait for us to modify the shipping rate on the invoice which we will send you the first business day after you’ve done this.  

Sealed LP Inspection Service

Since all of our items are factory sealed we cannot be fully responsible for the condition of the invisible part, unless (you ask us to) inspect it.  Even though incorrect, defective or damaged product is very rare, we highly recommend that you allow us to inspect your item before we ship it out.  Just let us know by writing INSPECT in the note to seller box when paying via PayPal.

If there is something wrong with your record that could only have been seen by such inspection, and you did not request it, we will not be responsible for the cost of shipping the faulty product back here, of for the shipping of a replacement item to you. We will replace the faulty item, however, as long as you pay for these freight costs.

Also, many LP buyers prefer to have the disc shipped outside the jacket to minimize damage to the jacket.  If you have requested that we inspect the disc, then we'll pack it outside the jacket.

If you're in a country other than U.S. or Canada, please note you'll get the best per-unit price and fastest delivery on your LP shipments by ordering at least 4 discs at a time.

We enclose an actual invoice with your shipment and do not falsify customs valuations.

Insurance

Like all eBay sellers, we're required to ensure that every shipment reaches the buyer in good condition. For that reason every eBay seller is self-insuring, and must build that cost into their selling price and/or shipping/handling fees. Nevertheless, if you wish to buy your own insurance, you may.
