BO DIDDLEY_IN THE SPOTLIGHT_LP_ORIGINAL CHESS MASTERS_1960_4 STARS: ALL MUSIC GUIDE_"ROAD RUNNER" COVERED BY JOHNNY WINTER, AEROSMITH, & THE ANIMALS_OUT OF PRINT

Originally unleashed on the Chess label in 1960, this long out of print pressing was released in 1987 by MCA as part of their "Original Chess Masters" series of LPs. The original cover art and back cover liner notes have been meticulously recreated on the album jacket. In addition to this LP’s original liner notes, this pressing also includes a brief essay containing biographical notes for this uniquely iconic blues and R&B songwriter.

Bo Diddley’s highly amplified guitar and jungle-like percussion and rhythms would go on to influence many of music’s greatest performers including Buddy Holly, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Burdon & The Animals, Elvis Presley and The Rolling Stones.

This album’s "Road Runner" is a rock & roll classic and has seen recorded versions by –among others- The Pretty Things, The Animals, The Zombies, Johnny Winter, Ron Wood and Aerosmith.

Rated "4 Stars" by All Music Guide. AMG contributor Bruce Eder writes: "There are surprises from these 1960-vintage recordings, including the languid, Caribbean-sounding "Limber"; the soft, romantic "Love Me"; the doo wop-style "Deed and Deed I Do"; the loping "Walkin' and Talkin'"; upbeat, gospel-tinged rockers such as "Let Me In" interspersed with the hot and raunchy "Road Runner," "The Story of Bo Diddley," "Craw-Dad" (a genuine diamond in the rough), and "Signifying Blues." In addition, solid instrumentals like "Scuttle Bug" (with Otis Spann on piano)make this record more than worthwhile."

Side One) 1) Road Runner, 2) Story Of Bo Diddley, 3) Scuttle Bug, 4) Signifying Blues, 5) Let Me In, 6) Limber

Side Two) 1) Love Me, 2) Craw-dad, 3) Walkin’ & Talkin’, 4) Travelin’ West, 5) Deed And Deed I Do, 6) Live My Life

Rarely handled and played even less. The shrink-wrap was slit at the jacket opening to allow access to the enclosed long out of print vinyl LP while maintaining this album’s original condition.

There is an obligatory promo drill on the lower right corner of the jacket. Otherwise, the album cover and the enclosed "In The Spotlight" LP are in completely pristine condition.
