Details: - Superb copy of this classic album, UK Issue on the Green Chrysalis label with Red Butterfly and fold out Newspaper sleeve in fantastic condition, 'PORKY' & 'PECKO' are inscribed into each run-out respectively. Released in 1972, includes only one song, the title track, which spans the entire album, deliberately crafted in the style of a concept album (and as a "bombastic" and "over the top" parody). The original packaging, designed like a newspaper, claims the album to be a musical adaptation of an epic poem by a (fictional) 8-year-old boy, though the lyrics were actually written by Ian Anderson - Run out/matrix `porky` CHR 1003 A-3U/`pecko` CHR 1003 B-2. Earliest mother stampers as well indicate a first week of issue.

The original LP cover was designed as a spoof of a 12-by-16-inch (305 by 406 mm) multiple-paged small-town English newspaper, entitled The St. Cleve Chronicle and Linwell Advertiser, with articles, competitions, adverts, etc., lampooning the parochial and amateurish local journalism that still exists in many places today. "There are a lot of inside puns, cleverly hidden continuing jokes (such as the experimental non-rabbit), a surprisingly frank review of the album itself [written by Anderson under a pseudonym]. The "newspaper", dated 7 January 1972, also includes the entire lyrics to "Thick as a Brick" , which is presented as a poem written by an 8-year-old literary prodigy, Gerald "Little Milton" Bostock, whose disqualification from a poetry contest is the focus of the front page story.

****ELUSIVE PROGMONSTER!!!****PERPLEXING SONGCRAFT!!!***AN INSPIRATION TO MANY SUBSEQUENT TOPACTS!!!***

!!!!A VERY HARD FIND!!! Most have been bought up by collectors!! This is hardly offered these days!!

In all my years this is only the third time I have come across this PROGMONSTER as a first press proper. Sensational sound quality, I have played this through in its entirety and it was a great joy!!! Just light static in places but nothing overbearing at all. NO skips or jumps. NO clicks either, this is really a stunning very heavy glossy jet black vinyl. The audio is fantastic. Inspected under an intense lightsource and angled.

Gatefold  Gimmix Sleeve:  EX++.  Extremely hard to find this sleeve without any issues. This one is still in splendid condition!! These matt sleeves are always very difficult to keep in optimum condition.  Superb `Textured` E.J.Day Group, London Fold out newspaper sleeve, Top spine clearly readable, the bottom fold is still crisp showing all the print, the crossword has not been filled, the join the dot is still untouched  and the staples are still firmly in place, overall it still shows as pure white with just some light yellowing in the centre (see photos), inside the pages are only just starting to turn off white (this is normal with the cheap thin newspaper style used, they are still like new and have not been thumbed.  The fold over print still reads clearly (this is a sign that it has been well looked after) A superb example of this easily blemished and worn cover. Overall, this is one of the finest examples you will come across The spine is fine without damage. The opening is still crisp. No discernible wear whatsoever. This will be a fantastic copy for most prog collectors.

Vinyl: EX.  Both surfaces retain their original deep, glossy sheen. A SUPERB VINYL COPY !!! There are a couple of the usual sleeve retraction paper traces. There is just one light shallow short hairline on side 1 which does not impede the quality of replay at all!!  The record sounds sensational, the vinyl being the extremely thick variety like the early Island issues and the equivalent of a Rolls Royce in private motor cars.
Outstanding audio delivery in all respects with a crystal clear, deep, rich, warm and detailed sound and on playback at a loud volume (which is how I always listen to my LPs prior to listing and it's always an immense pleasure to return to this one) there is barely any surface noise. This is a beautifully clean pressing (and I must emphasise again how difficult it is to find a copy which plays this well). The whole LP sounds absolutely stunning and plays to an extremely high standard with superb clarity, no groove-wear and no distortion and is very strictly graded a strong EX  for replay  - great copy!!
Of course, NO skips, NO jumps, NO ticks.

This is a unique investment opportunity!!! The next prog album to go completely through the roof. Finding this album in any condition at all is nearly impossible so late in the day. Get this while you still can. This value of the album is only going to go one way ... up and up ... until it will be totally unavailable at all for a reasonable price.

Though there are rarely ever any problems with my items, I always try my very best to describe everything exactly!  PLEASE REMEMBER to contact me FIRST,  if you have any problems at all, before you leave feedback and star ratings, so I get a chance to turn any negative experience into a positive one!  I can always happily sort anything out for you, if you let me know you have a problem!  This way no one has to leave Negative/Neutral feedback - and we both walk away happy! Similarly with the amount of stars, anything less than a full 5 * rating is effectively detrimental to a seller's rating as lower ratings will incur higher Final Value Fees  and lower priority in the bidlists eventually making it unattractive to list items on Ebay at all. I know of at least one major previous Ebay seller who has decided not to list via Ebay again. Please do NOT bid if you cannot give me at least 1 chance to sort everything out to your FULL satisfaction in the unlikely event of a problem.  Thanks again!!

This an excellent investment opportunity!!! Any questions please ask me and I will try to answer soon.
