Modern electric blues guitar can be traced back to this Texas-born musician. An American blues guitarist, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, he begn recording in 1929 and was one of the first artists to use an electric guitar in the 1930s. (They Call It) Stormy Monday was perhaps his best known song. During the swing era of the big bands, post WWII, he was one of the 2 best known blues guitarists - a primary influence on artists such as BB King. Posthuorously inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1987. The back of this album has some interesting history.
