Beautiful Copy of A Classic Album in MONO.
 Early First pressing

This original  MONO copy of Pink Floyd's very first album, The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn,is a genuine first pressing from September 1967 on the Blue / Black Columbia label.

catalogue number SX 6157, now rare.

This copy bought during the week of release.

Labels:Excellent

 This copy has the famous black labels with Columbia lettering in blue and the blue''notes'' logo.

First Pressing Matrix numbers XAX 3419-2, XAX 3420-1

The UK tax codes K and T are stamped either side of the spindle hole on side1. Stamper codes  1A&1M.

Under  the blue "Columbia" sign is printed

'Sold in U.K. subject to resale price conditions. See price lists.' 

 At the bottom of the label, it says 'Made in Gt. Britain.' 

Text around the bottom edge of the label  reads 'The Gramophone Co., Ltd. All rights of the manufacturer and of the owner of the recorded work reserved. Unauthorised public performance, broadcasting, and copying of this record prohibited.'

Vinyl:VG+

The vinyl is shiny as new and the visual appearance is very clean but there are a couple of scratches - so vinyl grade VG+,these don't affect the playing and the mono sound is still glorious. Some light surface noise on side1 tracks 5.&6 ,also track 1 side 2 (mid track only).Click on side 1 track one plays through but audible for 20 secs.prior to vocal intro.No skips or jumps. 

 

Sleeve;VG

Stored in a hard polythene cover It has a clean  laminated front cover (very slight scuff to top left corner), good,clean readable spine and is VG+ despite  marks on the rear matt finish.A historic sellotape line runs along the Rear opening edge.No tears or splits. An Early copy - No ‘file under’ text on top right rear cover .

Original lead photo ,cover appeared to be faded. New Photo added.

 

At nearly 50 years old the LP shows few signs of wear, and this rare copy is very collectible.
