John Coltrane Soultrane Details:
Original 1958 mono pressing on Prestige - PRLP 7142. Rudy Van Gelder's "RVG" stamp in dead wax.
Vinyl: VG+ We play-tested this one (on a Rega RP1 turntable). It sounds great! Visually side A looks closer to an EX grade. Only a couple of very light surface scratches / paper scuffs. Plays with very little surface noise. Side B has some scratches that looked a little concerning, but played very well. The lead-in was almost totally silent. The first song (You Say You Care) had almost no surface noise. About 3/4 of the way through the second song (Theme For Ernie), there is a scratch that clicks (click, not a pop). The click goes away about 1/3 of the way into the last song on side B (Russian Lullaby). Overall we were really impressed with how this one sounded....lots of life left in the grooves!
Jacket: VG+ Minimal ring wear. Some shelf wear, mostly on the sides and some light corner rubs. The shiny finish on the jacket has cracked a little bit along the top, not quite a split, but more of a crack in the finish. No writing or tears.

Grading: Visual only unless otherwise noted. We grade conservatively. We'd rather you be happily surprised than disappointed when you receive your order. See below for a breakdown of our grading standards. Returns: Money back guarantee if not completely satisfied, less shipping and handling (buyer to pay all shipping charges unless return is due to an error on our part). Shipping: All of our records are well packed in a sturdy record mailer with the sleeve/record outside of the jacket. If the original sleeve is included, the record will be placed in a plain white sleeve for shipping. All shipments are via USPS Media Mail in the US unless other arrangements have been made. Foreign shipment methods vary on weight of package and destination. Domestic: Free shipping in the US!
Our grading standards:
MINT - M : Perfect! Looks like it has just left the manufacturer, with NO flaws whatsoever. We have only used this grade once or twice in all of our years of selling records.
NEAR MINT - NM-: Virtually flawless records, not perfect. There might be one or two very minor flaws that are hard to detect, which have most likely occurred during packaging or removing the record from the inner sleeve, but has been handled with extreme care. EXCELLENT - EX: Excellent condition with a minor scuff or two, which are visible but only slightly. Absolutely no scratches/“feelers”. Wear is minimal and record retains most of its original shine and luster.
VERY GOOD PLUS VG+: Will show some wear, paper scuffs or spiral scuffs from turntable platters and some light scratches. Vinyl still has good luster, but flaws are noticeable to the naked eye.
VERY GOOD - VG: Record surface shows wear, but does have some luster. More noticeable scratches than a VG+.
We do not normally sell records less than a VG grade unless they are extremely rare.
