Near Mint (NM) - records are shiny, with no visible defects. Writing, stickers or other markings cannot appear on the label, nor can any “spindle marks” from someone trying to blindly put the record on the turntable. Major factory defects also must be absent; a record and label obviously pressed off center is not Near Mint. If played, it will do so with no surface noise. NM records don’t have to be “never played”; a record used on an excellent turntable can remain NM after many plays if the disc is properly cared for. NM covers are free of creases, ring wear and seam splits of any kind.
Excellent (EX) - The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
Very Good (VG) - The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects is acceptable
Good (G) - The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
Fair: Still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise - it may even jump. Cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
Our record gradings are visual gradings on uncleaned records unless specified and we advise that records are cleaned by recommended methods before playing them
Please be aware that a record graded below NM may not play like a Near Mint record. In the case of job lots, some of the covers may need regluing and we do not factor that point into grading. If you have any problems please don't open a dispute or give negative feedback before you have contacted us – we will always do our best to resolve any issues
Packaging - Depending on thickness our records will be packed using new strong mailers and strong cardboard stiffeners for 1 to 3 records and cruciform cardboard mailers for 2 to 6 records. Larger amounts will be boxed in a cardboard box fit for the purpose
