The Dark Side of the Moon is the eighth studio album by English rock band Pink Floyd, released on 1 March 1973 by Harvest Records. It’s themes explore conflict, greed, the passage of time, and mental illness, the latter of which was partly inspired by the deteriorating mental state of founding member and principal contributor, Syd Barrett. The group used some advanced recording techniques at the time, including multitrack recording, and tape loops. Engineer, Alan Parsons was responsible for many distinctive sonic aspects and the recruitment of singer Clare Torry. The album's iconic sleeve was designed by Storm Thorgerson, keyboardist Richard Wright's request for a "simple and bold" design, it depicts a prism spectrum, representing the band's lighting and the record's themes. The Dark Side of the Moon was a commercial and critical success. It topped the Billboard Top LP’s and Tapes chart for a week and remained in the chart for 741 weeks from 1973 to 1988. With an estimated 45 million copies sold, it is Pink Floyd's most successful album and one of the best-selling worldwide. It has been remastered and re-released several times, and covered in its entirety by several acts. It produced two singles, "Money" and "Us and Them". It is often ranked as one of the greatest albums of all time. Vinyl Record Grading
Please note grading key below:
M (Mint): A record that is sealed and has never been played.
M-/NM (Near Mint): A very clean record that may have light superficial scuffs, but does not affect play. Sleeves with this rating may have small defects but not significant creases or bends.
VG+ (Very Good Plus): A well-cared-for-record that is noticeably less then perfect, but defects are not visually or audibly distracting. Record surfaces may have slight scuffs or light scratches, but are still primarily clean. Sleeves may have some creases or minor ring wear, but will not be split. (A grade that will satisfy most collectors)
VG (Very Good): A used, reasonable copy to play. Many of the defects found in a VG+ copy will be more pronounced in VG condition. May have some surface noise and sleeves may look worn, but the record is still a decent copy.
VG- (Very Good Minus): A well-worn record that is still playable. A record in this condition will have audible distractions and may have visible groove wear. Sleeves may have all manner of defects, but are still intact.
G (Good): A record with many scratches & loud surface noise, but will not skip. Sleeve may have the majority of it's seams split & significant damage to the artwork.
F (Fair): This grade is for beat-up records. I will only sell records in this condition that are extremely rare and sought-after.
