Rare Original 45 on SGM Records, Canada Pressing.
In Vancouver B.C., Canada, Stan Cayer operated a Label (later a recording studio too) called S.G.M. (named for his full name- Stanley Gordon Melvin Cayer) whereby he released 2 classic teen rock singles in 1963 on his own S.G.M. record label
which were recorded in Nashville, Tennessee with legendary session musicians
Charlie McCoy on harmonica, Floyd Cramer on Piano, Hargus "Pig" Robbins, Red West on
drums and Harold Bradley on lead guitar (brother of Owen "Big
Guitar" Bradley) with Stan Cayer on vocals. Backing vocals are sung by The Anita Kerr Singers.
Stan went on to perform as a regular on the Canadian CBC Television series Music Hop which was broadcast across Canada.
Letter To Santa was written by Stan and is a novelty Christmas
number with excellent "Elvisy" vocals from Stan, along with nice backing vocals from
Vancouver band "The Del-Ettes". It was recorded locally in Vancouver at Robin Spurgin's Studio.
Crying On My Pillow written by Stan Cayer and recorded in Nashville, Tennessee is a melodic mid-tempo teen rocker with great guitar throughout from Harold Bradley. Stan Cayer does a fine job on vocals with female backing vocals by the Anita Kerr Singers.
Vancouver radio station deejay Red Robinson played Crying On My Pillow in 1963 on radio station CFUN's the Battle Of The New Sounds, and Stan Cayer's record came out on top and eventually reached #10 on CFUN's Top 40 radio charts.
