This is a rare opportunity to purchase the complete set of Coup D’Archet  / L’Archet D’Or series 1, 2 and 3 box sets with the two accompanying 12” 45rpm special releases. Each box set comprising four mono LP’S contained in a linen bound slip case specific to that Series issue. Therefore, twelve LP’s and 2 x 12” 45rpm  = 14 records in all.  These award winning landmark productions rarely surface in the second hand market and Coup D'Archet have said they will never be reissued. 

Featuring hand silk-screened artwork and hand made jackets these are amazing records. The sets I am offering are complete in every way. 100% analogue, in mono, mastered from tape at Abbey Road Studios, and pressedby Pallas in Germany. These recordings were NEVER made available in any digital format. 

Quick summary: 

As an overall package I grade the items in this auction as near excellent to VG++++ condition, a couple of minor marks on the boxes and some of the cellophane being the only notable items(see below).  The LPs are spotless, You will be very hard pushed to find a better complete set!!!

Some background

If you are looking at this listing then you probably have an idea of the desirability and rarity of these L’Archet D’Or LP sets. These are award winning, landmark issues of original recordings - not reissues - of some of theworld’s greatest yet neglected musicians working in the chamber music field. Just look for individual LP’s by some of these musicians  - say Andre Levy or Maurice Marechal -and besitting down when you look at the prices! 

There were only 250 sets of each of the 3 series that were made, for worldwide sale. Thats just 750 in total, worldwide.  
This auction pack comes with 3 sheets of artist notes as originally provided with the LP’s. These are all the notes that were released. The even more limited two (2) 45 rpm ‘special pressings’ come in their generic gold printed textured jackets. Photos available 

Series 1 was released in 2002, Series 2 in 2003 and Series 3 in 2006. All LP sets are longout of print and unavailable.

Slipcases

Featuring hand silk-screened artwork and hand made jackets these amazing records are housed in linen-bound slipcases with gold block lettering. Overall in VG+++ condition with undamaged corners and openings. 

However, note that there is a slight discolouring to the goldblock logo on the Series 1 box (see photo): its gold blocked on a dark purple background andthe logo was like this from new. There are a couple of tiny white marks on this box also. Please see photographs. Note that all spines are unfaded, the boxes have been kept “spine in” in a storage rack stored vertically, so sunlight has not affected them.

 

The LP Sleeves

All 12 LP’s andthe two 12” 45rpm’s are close to immaculate with a couple of very very minorissues with a couple of the cellophane wrappings.

People who are familiar with this issue will know that the sleeves in every set are very thin,and each LP is wrapped in a clear thin cellophane sleeve with a colour codedtag. All sleeves are un-creased and un-marked, there are no splits to the cellophane and each LP still has its original cellophone slip cover with thecolour coded tags still attached. Only thing to report is that a couple of the cellophane wrappings have become creased at the edge which folds over when the sleeves are inserted and removed from the slipcase. An example has been photographed. The set has been kept in a non-smoking household.

 

The records

From my personal collection and treated carefully and lovingly from new, all are Mint Minus, with a few of them played maybe three times, many of them never played. The sound quality is wonderfullydeep and rich. All playing has been with a mono cartridge, i.e one designed to fit the grooves of a mono record. Consequently there is no groove damage.  A sample record has been photographed as close as I can get it. (Note that ebay doesn’t allow enough photos for me to photograph every side of every record). 

Blow the photos up. All you will see is some dust and light reflection. All records are in a similar condition.

The complete set being auctioned comprises twelve (12) mono LP recordsand two mono 12” 45rpm records.

Overall

I am trying tograde these boxes as accurately and fairly as I can. The above mentioned minorimperfections on a slipcase and a couple of cellophanes are the only reasonthese boxes and LP’s have not been graded overall as near mint.

As noted, there are only 250 of each set that were made, worldwide. Eachset is numbered with each record in that set corresponding to the correctnumber on the box. The box sets I am selling are numbered as follows:
