Audiophile, Music Lover, and Musician are apt ways describing this loved person who passed away. His record collection, including classical (in the most broad sense), opera, some jazz and popular, was meticulously cared for. The best turntables, styluses, and speakers were always used and brought current, as necessary. The records received attention (they were cleaned prior to and after each playing) that I thought was overdoing it at the time…now I know better, they were kept in beautiful shape…for their next owner, too.
Unless noted in the auction’s details, all records and covers are near mint (NM). I trust that you will be pleased if you purchase from the collection.
I hope you will look (and return often) to see what other records are being offered.
This is a set of 19-records + Book
Box details:
Richard Wagner
Der Ring Des Nibelungen
The Ring Cycle was recorded at Sofiensaal, Vienna between 1958 and 1965. Georg Solti conducts the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra for all performances. Made in Great Britain.
The 19 discs are rated near-mint, the four individual boxes are excellent to near-mint. All box corners are intact. Except for the box hinge on Gotterdammerung, all box hinges are solid and intact. (The heaviness of the 6-lps in Gotterdammerung set overwhelm the original paper hinge).
The enclosed book, Ring Resounding by John Culshaw, is an integral part of the set. Mr. Culshaw was the Producer of these historic recordings. This book is in near-mint condition; it is the Fifth Edition printed in November 1972.
Other details about the set and individual performances are listed below.
