This is the second in Paul Motian's examination of Broadway or show tunes. He and his small, simpatico band play 10 tunes, from 3 to7 minutes. The quartet is Joe Lovano on tenor, Bill Frisell on guitar, Charlie Haden on bass, and Paul Motian on drums. They give individual but standard-setting versions of Good Morning Heartache, You and the Night and the Music, Moonlight Becomes You, But Not For Me, Bess, Oh Where Is My Bess, I Got Rhythm, All the Things You Are, Nice Work If You Can Get It, It Might As Well Be Spring, and Look to the Rainbow. Great record I can sell as I have the digital.
