And so here is the seminal first 1969 UK pressing by prog icons King Crimson in excellent condition. EX condition is defined by Record Collector the following way:  "The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging  might have slight wear and/or creasing". This is the first pressing with matrixes ILPS 9111A/ 2 1 2 and ILPS 9111B/ 4 1 1 1. Pink label with white i-logo. Very scarce in such good condition these days.
RECORD: Looks almost unplayed. No hairlines under light. A few faint signs of spindle wear (hardly noticeable). Still a beautiful sheen. But there is one strange thing about this record. On side 2 especially can be seen some strange shadowy patterns (can't be seen on the photos). Before anyone is scared off; this does NOT affect sound/audio in any way whatsoever!  Maybe a production defect somehow? It`s only noticeable visually and from certain angels of watching they're hardly seen. Very strange. But it doesn't deteriorate the sound in any way!  Doesn't look like the result of use so EX - .
LABELS: EX+, just a few faint signs of spindle wear on side 1. Side 2 immaculate.
SLEEVE: This is a very nice example of this unlaminated first issue E.J. Day Ltd gatefold sleeve. The sleeve looks great with the iconic cover painting in strong, clear colours (see photos). Edges show some light rub marks, as does the spine edge, but nothing major. For a 52 year old release, its whole and clean - no rips, tears, slits, creasing or writing. No ring wear on front cover. Back cover has a slight beginning of ring wear on top (hardly noticeable). Spine is readable. Left side of the opening is a bit wavy, the right side is straight and strong. Original inner bag in EX condition, so EX.
SOUND/AUDIO: Plays great throughout! It plays through both sides without any major faults - a few clicks/pops here and there and some slight background noise in quiet passages. Two tracks stand out on this lp as specially vulnerable  to noise. The "Moonchild" track (track 1 side 2) has usually been an issue on this release as its extremely quiet and delicate soundwise. And yes, there is some background noise here and a click or two, but still very listenable. Track 2 side 1 "I talk to the wind" is in the same category, but plays beautifully. A small scuff (or something, cannot actually see anything) causes a few clicks in the intro of the song, but after that it plays great! Slight background noise here and there throughout the song, but also totally quiet in parts. Otherwise the music on this album plays great - crystal clear, dynamic. organic sound. No sound distortion. No clicks, pops (except those mentioned) or scratches. EX.

So here goes then. A chance to own this very rare first UK pressing in excellent condition.
