Here’s a wonderful piece of Americana, First one listed on eBay in nearly three months-a Johnny Cash 78 RPM copy of Ballad Of A Teenage Queen.
This is a fairly rare late period 78 format record, in the 1950s they were made and sold in very small numbers as the 45rpm had become the format of choice from 1949 forward, these 78s made in the late 50s served the primary purpose of being used in older juke boxes that were still hanging on from the 1940s, the record plays fantastic, loud clear and strong, and has very little wear, you can tell it wasn’t played much at all. A few scattered “pits” from where a tone arm dropped in place but no skips or scratches aside from one in the end space after the music, label has a few creases but no rips.
