The Idle Race Schizophrenic Psychedelia a limited edition & numbered LP on Clear vinyl From Run Out Groove Album was mastered for vinyl by Pete Weiss at Verdant Studios. Lacquers were
cut by Jeff Powell at Sam Phillips Recording Studio. 1LP, 180g clear vinyl pressed
at Record Industry in the Netherlands. LP comes in a tip-on style single pocket
jacket with insert newly designed by Steve Stanley. New liner notes by Richard
Morton Jack. Each LP is individually numbered. New mono/stereo collection of the band’s Liberty-era Pyschedelic tracks on
full length vinyl with several tracks making their debut on the format The Idle Race were a British rock group from Birmingham in the late 1960s and
early 1970s who garnered a cult following but never enjoyed mass commercial success.
In addition to being the springboard for Jeff Lynne’s career, the band holds a place of
significance in British pop-rock history as a link between The Move, Electric Light
Orchestra, The Steve Gibbons Band and Mike Sheridan & The Nightriders. The band
was initially formed in 1959. By1965, member Roy Wood formed the Move and the
band started touring by 1966. Johnny Mann was eventually replaced by Jeff Lynne – who
at the time was an unknown guitar prodigy from Birmingham. They released one single
in 1966 on Polydor – “It’s Only The Dog/Your Friend” featuring Lynne on lead guitar.
Eager to showcase Lynne’s vocal and guitar skills as well as his growing cache of catchy
Beatlesque songs and wishing to embrace the psychedelic movement of the time, the
group changed its name, first to The Idyll Race and then The Idle Race. They often appeared
live in performance with such bands as The Spencer Davis Group, The Who, The Small Face,
Pink Floyd, The Moody Blues, Status Quo, Tyrannosaurus Rex, Yes and Free. BBC disc
jockeys such as John Peel and Kenny Everett were big champions of the group. Despite
critical respect and famous admirers such as The Beatles and Marc Bolan, Idle Race failed
to catch fire with the public. After suffering through bad luck that sabotaged their
efforts, the band splintered, leaving in their wake several of the quirkiest and
most distinctive pop records of the psychedelic era.

LP PACKAGING
We package our LPs in a thick cardboard LP mailer.
We ALWAYS take the LP out of the jacket of 2nd hand items to
avoid any seam splitting that could occur in shipment.
We put the LP and the jacket in an LP plastic sleeve.
We do NOT open sealed LPs unless requested.
We cushion the LP in bubble wrap and use shipping tape
on all spines to protect the integrity of the box, and to
insure the safety of the contents. All this is included in
the low shipping price. We will clean your purchase on our
VPI machine if and when necessary. This insures that
you receive your item in the best possible condition.
LP SHIPPING
We offer the US Postal Service’s Media Mail and / or Priority
for shipping in the U.S. Buyer’s choice. The buyer pays the shipping,
packing (see above) and handling charges. Tracking is included
with both. We occasionally run domestic shipping specials.

Service's First Class Mail International. Priority International
