The United States of America: LP, Vinyl, Edsel 1982
The United States of America is the only studio album by American rock band the United States of America. Produced by David Rubinson, it was released in 1968. The album combined rock and electronic instrumentation, experimental composition, with lyrics reflecting the band members' political views.
The United States of America was an American experimental rock band founded in Los Angeles in 1967 by composer Joseph Byrd and vocalist Dorothy Moskowitz, with electric violinist Gordon Marron, bassist Rand Forbes and drummer Craig Woodson.
The group’s sound was grounded in both psychedelia and the avant-garde. Former UCLA ethnomusicology instructor Joseph Byrd concocted miracles with musique concrete-style tape collages and white noise blurts that veered in and out of the songs like uninvited but still welcome guests. He also tackled a dub-like mixology of tape delays and ring-modulated fade-outs and, best of all, distorted and punch-drunk synthesizers that sound indistinguishable from electric guitars.
This is the original Edsel compliation from 1982, ED 233.
The matrix number is: ED - 233 - A1 Sorry Man, I Don't Smoke Straights ED - 233 - B1 TY1
This record has been kept in storage in a smoke free household. It is from a large record collection, not a DJ collection, this record has never been DJed and is in generally good condition.
There is a pop and crackles before Side 1, Band 1, 'The American Metaphysical Circus'. Then on Side 2 at the start of Band 1, 'Where Is Yesterday', there are a few crackles.
There is some foxing to the record sleeve, from being in storage.
