"Let It Be" was the 12th and final studio album by the Beatles. It was released on May 8, 1970, a month after the group broke up, in tandem with the documentary of the same name. The album came to be regarded as one of the most controversial rock albums in history.
In 2021, a remixed and expanded edition was released with session highlights and the original 1969 Get Back mix, coinciding with The Beatles: Get Back, a documentary series covering the January 1969 sessions and rooftop concert.
Giles Martin, who mixed this album, is the son of the Beatles original producer, George Martin. George Martin was referred to as the Fifth Beatle in reference to his extensive involvement guiding and developing each of the Beatles' original album recordings.
The Beatles are regarded as the most influential band of all time and were integral to the development of 1960's counterculture and popular music's recognition as an art form. Rooted in skiffle, beat and 1950's rock 'n roll, their sound incorporated elements of classical music and traditional pop in innovative ways.
