'Colditz - Breakpoint!'
Purple, UK, 1973
TPSM 2001
REMARKABLE ALBUM issued on Deep Purple's vanity label Purple Records. Basically it's a spoken word recording reliving the wartime prison of Colditz with lots of musical interludes including the songs of Gracie Fields, Arthur Askey, George Formby etc peppered with songs and orchestration from that era including 'Washing On The Siegfried Line' and 'There's A Boy Coming Home On Leave'. Very evocative and completely at odds with the rest of the Purple Records catalogue. Fascinating to think that this record was ever conceived, recorded and released at the height of the flamboyant early progressive era.
Pressing: Purple, UK, 1973
Vinyl: Superb clean and shiny condition. No spindle marks and no other signs of any use. Grades as top shop fresh archive MINT!
Cover: Again only minimal signs of any use. Issued in a beautifully illustrated but thin textured cover. Sharp corners, no dings, no bends, no ring wear and no creases. just a small and unnoticeable split seam to the bottom edge. Spine is perfectly straight, stiff and square. Beautiful and impossible to find like this 49 years after release. Grades as near shop fresh MINT-!
