Thank you for taking the time to check out this listing. Up for auction is a group of records bought from a single collection for a Jazz enthusiast who sadly recently passed. His collection was meticulously cared for and selected, starting back in the 1950's he continued purchasing records through the 1990's. He was incredibly careful with his records, most often purchased, played once and recorded for future listening. Many of these albums listed here were likely played once or twice, and always with care. Many were bought new from him, though many were also bought used over the years. Nothing in this listing is something I would consider "Questionable" from a grading stand point. To be honest, a bulk of this collection has not appreciated well, or rather, sustained value. So if it was anything suspect, it simply did not make the cut.
All albums are graded visually, strictly, and under bright light. There are a very few albums graded as "VG" those few titles are all copies that I believe should still be terrific player copies. Showing just some light sleeve/hairlines, but nothing which can be felt. There are no albums in this listing that have 'scratches' that can be felt. There are some with light sleeve scuffs, paper scuffs, rubs, faint surface level mostly superficial blemishes. The majority of this collection is without question some of the very cleanest vinyl I have had the pleasure of working with. On a few "VG" titles they had a bit more, often copies from the 50's/60's, which in my experience often play a grade or two above their physical appearance.
Albums are listed as such: "Artist" - "Album Title" "Grade of Vinyl" / "Grade of Jacket" "(any further notes, CC=Cut Corner, Tape=Scotch tape used to prevent a further split that has occurred, HP=Hole Punch, SC=Saw Cut, SS=Seam Split, T=Top, B=Bottom, S=Spine. ie Frank Sinatra - Come Fly With Me VG+/VG (tape, HP). This would equate to VG+ graded vinyl, a VG graded jacket with some tape repairs noted and a Hole Punch in a corner.
Vinyl grading: VG= Should be a still very enjoyable player copy, shows a few extra marks, again nothing that can be felt, and while surface noise is likely present at times, it should not distract from the music itself. VG+= A very nice copy, that may show just a few light surface/sleeve type marks, and should be a beautiful copy. VG++= Just a few light sleeve type marks noted, again, should be a final/top copy never needing to be improved upon. EX= Pristine, visually I can find no faults, perhaps one or two sleeve marks, a spindle mark, or absolutely no visual signs of use. I do NOT use NM as a grading standard, to be completely honest, I am certain many/most of these that are graded EX would be considered NM, but as a practice I do not use that grading. This is to say, an EX grade is my highest standard, and I think it was an absolute cold hard stunning copy.
Often times the only way I can be sure that the record was played, is because the one fault the previous owner had was a tendency to use a "X" or a "Check mark" next to a track on the back indicating that it was recorded/copied. Followed by a date of purchase and price in a corner. The vinyl visually, shows no signs of having been played.
Jacket Grading: G/G+/VG- = A bit rough, not too many in here will meet this grade, maybe a handful, usually on copies from the 50s/60s, heavier wear, splits, breaking down around the edges, heavy ring wear, etc.. VG= Solid shape, shows some general shelf wear, light wear on seams/spine/corners, not bad, but not new. Often times from this collection they may have a small tape repair, the previous owner was fanatical about preventing a further split, many covers will have a small 1" split that has been neatly and tastefully taped, on these covers I will try hardest to identify on the listing that it was "tape", that may be one 1" piece, it may mean an entire seam (even on unglued seams he would tape instead of re-gluing unfortunately), it may mean tape repairs in a couple of spots. He was very tidy about it, but if this is an issue for your purchase you can always message me and I can give further details. VG+= Is the highest grade I'll give the jackets in this listing, many of these are VG+ and often times better, they may show a faintest touch of ring wear, very light corner wear, or no wear at all. In general something that is VG+, I have deemed "A Very Nice looking jacket that may not always be perfect, but has nothing distracting or distinctively degraded about it." There are some copies that to me look absolutely terrific and would be VG+ or better visually but they have a tape repair, I'll notate those with the tape distinction in the listing. Basically, there is a tape repair here, but boy does it still look very nice.
I understand what the majority of these titles are in this listing. They are not the Beatles, they are not the Stones, heck they are not Miles Davis and John Coltrane, these are obscure one offs, and artists/performers without millions of fanfare. I have graded and priced them accordingly, I would not list them and grade them if I didn't believe in what I was selling. I also understand that yes, there is still a market, a large market for a VG copy of Sgt. Peppers or Zeppelin II. However, there is not a huge market for ___________ (insert modern/contemporary jazz musician/late 70's or 80's Bop/Exotica/etc..), these are titles I genuinely believe deserve your attention and or worth buying based on their condition relative to their price point. These are albums I personally believe if obtained, I would see no sense to upgrade my copy because they check the box as a collection worthy, just as they were deemed worthy by their previous owner, Russ.
A few notes post purchase. These records have NOT been cleaned. They should absolutely be cleaned prior to playback, even though they may look pristine. They have all sat on shelves for the past 20 years and collected dust and other bits. Even an album purchased brand new should be cleaned before initial play (my personal philosophy). So DO be sure to clean the records.

Free Returns, or Refunds. I stand by my grading, I don't believe in over grading, or under grading. My ultimate goal is the accurately grade. It's wonderful to receive an item in better condition than advertised. It's even more dreadful to receive an item in worse condition than advertised. While I would love for you to be pleasantly surprised at getting something better than bargained for, what I strive for is getting exactly what you paid for. When I buy records; If I receive something that is less than advertised, and am not satisfied, a partial refund can be amicable if appropriate. But really all I ever wanted was to pay the full amount and get exactly what I expected. I know returns are a pain, nobody wants to deal with them, you me, or eBay. And nobody wants to deal with confrontation. I want you to be happy, if something is not to your liking, if that means to return it, than I that's OK. If it means I missed the mark somewhere between price and grade, and you feel somewhere in-between would be satisfactory, than I want you to be satisfied. I'm not here selling Dad's old records from the attic, or an estate I cleaned out in addition to a bunch of other junk. I'm here to sell records. I want you come back to me to buy more records. So if you are not satisfied, just let me know! If you are satisfied, than let me know as well, positive feedback and 5-stars are always appreciated. Your future business is even more greatly appreciated. Save me as a seller and look for other listings and future finds! Thanks again for your support!
