Her father was a minister in Detroit, Michigan, where Franklin began her career as a child singing gospel at his church. By the end of the 1960's, Aretha had become known as the 'Queen of Soul'. "Spirit in the Dark" is her seventeenth studio album, released in 1970. It is now considered to be one of Aretha's classic Atlantic LP's. There is plenty of material here to enjoy.
