I always loved Chet Baker for his vocals, he is my favorite but I under-appreciated his talent as a pure trumpet player, he had some real competition ( Armstrong, Dizzy, Miles, Morgan, Farmer, Hubbard, Brown etc.) and I admit I gravitated towards the more powerful/Virtuoso sound but I have a whole new respect for Chet as a trumpet player and group leader.. just wow, he is a pure joy. I know I will enjoy these records for years .. please if you are in the know then invest, if you are new to this it is a great start Chet will make you grow in appreciating real Jazz.
