It became a top-40 single (reached #36 on the US Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart, #24 in the UK Singles Chart, #17 on the US Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs Chart and #3 on the US Billboard Dance Club Songs Chart all in 1988) and was later certified platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA).
