The Doors - S/T - USA - First Press Vinyl Monarch Pressing Plant Released Jan 4, 1967
Matrix: Side 1) EKS 74007 A MR ∆ 9991 Side 2) EKS 74007 B MR ∆ 9991 X
Cover: NM- There is a small bump at the bottom right corner, a tiny nick near the spine, and just a hint of ring wear that leaves no impression. These issues do little to detract from the quality condition of this cover. It presents extremely well 'in hand'.
Vinyl: NM Manufactured on Jan 4, 1967, a true first batch pressing. A few inaudible wispy surface lines, and a 1/4" scratch on S2 at the start of 'The End'. Its audible impact is extremely light, passive, and fades quickly. It appears much worse than it is. Again, a beautiful record.
Labels: NM Perfect, with almost invisible spindle marks. Includes First Press only S1 indicators:
- 'BREAK ON THROUGH' (To The Oher Side) - 'Witmark' credit for 'ALABAMA SONG'
Inner: NM Original inner
Playgrade: NM Many consider this Monarch product to be the best-sounding master of the original pressings; possibly bested only by the 1992 DCC remaster.
This record rates a solid 9.5/10. Virtually zero surface noise is heard. A minuscule number of intermittent soft tics and the scratch noted above does little to detract from the wonderful audio delivered by this LP. It simply plays great!
A true Doors gem.
