The Smithsonian Collection of Classic Jazz is a 6-LP set released in 1973 by the Smithsonian. Compiled by Jazz critic, scholar, and historian Martin Williams, the six albums include tracks from over a dozen different record labels spanning several decades and genres of American Jazz. It has been praised from the time of its 1973 release as "by far the best anthology of jazz recordings ever issued". It became part of the jazz curriculum at colleges throughout the country. Over time, it became a double platinum collection. This astounding, superb, unblemished pristine LP collection went out of print in 2011. All the older, paper inner sleeves have been replaced by more LP protective vinyl sleeves; paper sleeves are preserved. None of these LP records have been played on a turntable and all LP records are in superb, unmarred condition. A true Jazz LP Collector's treasure that is reasonably priced and reasonable alternative offers welcome; let's deal.
