Pucho & The Latin Soul Brothers Tough! LP Prestige, PR 7471 Mono Van Gelder Rare Archival Sleeve Latin Jazz Classic which gets funky Dark blue label mono with silver trident logo at right

Pucho & His Latin Soul Brothers was a ,  and  group formed in 1959 by  player . Of the many musicians that worked in his group,  is among them, Corea leaving prior to Pucho's recording career.

The core of his band, in the foundational early records, featured Pucho Brown, percussion, Eddie Pazant, reeds, Al Pazant, trumpet, William Bivens, Jr., vibraphone, , piano and organ.

A bit more jazz- and pop-oriented than some of his later sessions, with covers of "Yesterday," "The Shadow of Your Smile," "And I Love Her," "Walk On By," and "Goldfinger." However, when Pucho decides to pull out the funky grooves -- as he does on "Cantaloupe Island," "Vietnam Mambo," and "Strange Thing Mambo" -- he and the Latin Soul Brothers can smoke. Even at its slightest, this is decent mood music. At its best, it's significantly more than that. The CD reissue is a good deal, adding the entirety of the 1966 LP .
