Derek Bailey (29 January 1930 – 25 December 2005) was an English  guitarist and an important figure in the  movement. Bailey abandoned conventional performance techniques found in , exploring , , and whatever unusual sounds he could produce with the guitar. Much of his work was released on his own label . In addition to solo work, Bailey collaborated frequently with other musicians and recorded with collectives such as  and .

Anthony Braxton (born June 4, 1945) is an American  composer, educator, music ,  and  who is best known for playing , particularly the . Braxton grew up on the  of , , and was a key early member of the . He received great acclaim for his  - record , the first full-length album of solo saxophone music

Steve Lacy (born Steven Norman Lackritz; July 23, 1934 – June 4, 2004) was an American  saxophonist and composer recognized as one of the important players of . Coming to prominence in the 1950s as a  musician, Lacy went on to a long and prolific career. He worked extensively in experimental jazz and to a lesser extent in , but Lacy's music was typically melodic and tightly-structured. Lacy also became a highly distinctive composer, with compositions often built out of little more than a single questioning phrase, repeated several times.

Evan Shaw Parker (born 5 April 1944) is a British tenor and soprano saxophone player who plays .Recording and performing prolifically with many collaborators, Parker was a pivotal figure in the development of European  and .
