The Traveling Wilburys were a supergroup made up of George Harrison, Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Jeff Lynne, and Roy Orbison. They released their first album, which was a big success and helped to boost the careers of all the members. However, their second album, Vol. 3, was not as successful. It lacked the natural humor and creativity of the first album, and the production was too polished and punchy. The absence of Roy Orbison, who didn't write much on the first album and only took the lead on one song, couldn't be blamed for the lackluster performance. The second album was dominated by Lynne and Petty, and it sounded more like their work than the rest of the band members. Although it had some good songs, they were not as memorable as the ones on the debut album. With time, the subtle pleasures of the second album become discernible, but they are still not as impactful as the first album. However, when paired with the debut, it's a worthy companion and helps support the notion that the Traveling Wilburys were a band that possesses a unique, almost innocent, charm that isn't diminished after all this time.
