Slint, formed in the '80s, delivered two masterpieces of intensity and beauty. Spiderland, their second and first release on Touch and Go, dropped in '91. Produced by Brian Paulson, its six songs crafted a gripping, menacing, and haunting sound, with stunning eruptions of rage. Unforgettable, the album's cover, features eerie black and white photo of four floating heads - a response to PJ Harvey's image on the back. It sparked Post-Rock and, in 1995, "Good Morning, Captain" soundtracked the indie classic, Kids. In 2010, the 33 1/3 series honored the album. Slint disbanded pre-release, though its members went on to shape Tortoise, the Breeders, Palace, The For Carnation, Papa M, Evergreen, Interpol, and the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.
