Very rare original 1965 South African 1st pressing of The Beatles “Rubber Soul” LP
This uses the same matrixes/mastering as the UK 1st press ‘Loud Cut’ and it is a loud sounding pressing with plenty of volume.
Matrix numbers:
Side 1: XEX 579-1
Side 2 : XEX 580-1
The vinyl grades as G+ visually with lots and lots of fine hairlines, scuffs and marks. No deep scratches. It’s fully play tested and plays surprisingly very well. Side 1 has a little light crackle on the run ins and a few light crackles at the start of Michelle but this is minimal. Side 2 has a couple of soft clicks at the start of track 1 and some crackle heard in the spaces between tracks and sone of the quieter sections but again certainly nothing too bad or overpowering. Play grade side one is VG+ to EX-. Play grade side 2 is VG. Overall grade is VG
The sleeve is VG- to VG with light laminate creases. Writing on the rear and discoloured. See photos.
Overall it’s not perfect but is still very enjoyable and highly collectible!
