New Trolls are an Italian  band, known for their fusion of rock and . In a way not too dissimilar from fellow prog-rock band , their history is filled with line-up changes, spin-off projects and personal struggles between band members.

N.T. Atomic System came to be through legal wranglings over the New Trolls name, should Nico Di Palo or Vittorio De Scalzi be the holder of the New Trolls name. So while that's going on, Nico Di Palo simply released an album under the last names of the musicians involved called Canti, D'Innocenza, Canti D'Esperianza in 1973 before choosing the name Ibis through a magazine poll, while Vittorio De Scalzi settled on N.T. Atomic System. De Scalzi started Magma Records, and naturally this album was one of the releases. It comes with a triple gatefold and an insert, with early copies featuring a "New Trolls Atomic System" sticker on it, while legal wranglings were proceedings. Both Searching for a Land and UT showed schisms in the band, where Vittorio De Scalzi preferred a more prog direction and Nico Di Palo preferred a heavier direction (in the Purple, Sabbath, and Zeppelin vein), which was responsible for the breakup.

So this album was De Scalzi's show, without any of the hard rock/early metal tendencies of Searching For a Land and UT. "La Nuova Predica di Padre O'Brein" sounds like classic Italian prog all the way, complete with Jethro Tull-like flutes, and a jazzy guitar solo near the end. "Ho Visto Poi" has some rocking passages, with some mellow passages that brings to mind PFM. "Ibernazione" is another highlight for me, classic Italian prog.
