An beautiful unpeeled mono 'second state' Beatles Yesterday and Today 'Butcher Cover' album, in Near Mint condition, with its original shrink wrap.
First state 'Butcher Covers' were never pasted over, while 'second state' albums have the replacement 'trunk' cover pasted over the offending "butcher" slick, with the “V” from Ringo’s butcher smock slightly visible to the right of the top of the trunk. 'Third state' are second state 'pasteover' copies where someone has attempted to peel off the trunk cover.
Second state butcher covers are far more scarce than 'peeled' third state covers, as nearly everyone who found one tried to peel it, with varying degrees of success.
This example is extremely clean, with the cover having been protected by the original shrink wrap since its 1966 release. The front and back cover both grade a strong Near Mint; there is a small horizontal area of bubbling from the application of the paste-over cover to the butcher slick, just above and to the left of John Lennon's knee. The 'V' of Ringo's butcher smock is visible to the right of the top of the trunk. 80% of the front shrink wrap is present, with a vertical piece missing along the right edge, with all of the shrink is present on the back. The back cover is bright and white, with just a faint hint of aging on the back along the the left edge. The shrink wrap has two breathe holes, one on each side. All four corners are square, and the seams and spine perfect. It has #3 printed on the back cover in the lower right corner, indicating it was printed in Scranton, PA.
The disc, easily replaced, is in VG(+)/VG, though it plays mostly EX or better throughout. With the original orange Capitol inner sleeve.
